Former Chelsea defender Tony Dorigo expects this to be Alvaro Morata’s one and only season at the Blues after a ‘disappointing’ campaign.
The
25-year-old has started just 24 Premier League games since making the
switch from Real Madrid, with another six appearances from the bench and
netting just 11 league goals.
The
Spaniard has not really endeared himself to Chelsea fans with his
performances, with Olivier Giroud coming into the side in January and
cementing himself as a crowd favourite and the number one starter up
front.
Morata has not netted in the Premier League since the
beginning of April, and with links with a return to former club
Juventus, Dorigo feels the exit could be beckoning for the club’s record
signing.
When asked if he expects Morata to leave in the summer, Dorigo told BetStars:
“I do yes. The problem is he left Real Madrid to get some games, and he
went to Juventus and did quite well but again didn’t play all the time.

as well but Juventus may see the value in trying to get him back and
Chelsea will be looking for another striker.
“He works hard and
seems a good type of person, but it just hasn’t worked out. When you
have spent that kind of money, £60m or £70m, you expect to get a bit
more, so I can’t see it ending too well to be honest. The likes of Chelsea, you look where they can improve, and up top has
got to be one of them. Morata hasn’t really done it. He is not that
lightning [quick], he works for the team which is commendable, but when
you’ve only got one through the middle you want him in the box and
sticking it in the back of the net.”
