It's the final day of the Premier League
season, but there are also 32 days to go before Russia 2018 begins and
talkSPORT.com is counting down by looking at the most iconic players to
grace the tournament.
The list featuring Pele, Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane, looks at the greatest moments from the most iconic footballers – from great goal scorers and majestic defenders to sensational scoundrels and those who just didn’t know the rules.
32) Grzegorz Lato: Poland, forward (1974, 1978 and 1982)
One of 12 players to have scored 10 goals or more at World Cup finals, and one of only seven to have appeared in 20 or more World Cup games. Lato was the quiet, bald star of a golden Polish generation that won Olympic gold in Munich in 1972 before finishing third at both the 1974 and 1982 tournaments. The Golden Boot he won for his seven goals in 1974 was just reward for his talents.
