Manchester United hold talks with Chelsea winger Willian
Manchester United have held preliminary talks with Chelsea winger Willian’s representatives, according to Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils have held a firm interest in the Brazilian since 2016, having made an enquiry over the 29-year-old’s availability and were turned away by the Blues.
Jose Mourinho, who signed Willian for Chelsea back in 2013, is keen to add a winger in the summer having been left disappointed with his options during the season.
United are hopeful of signing the Chelsea winger this summer with
Mourinho having been left disappointed by the performances of
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial over the course of last season.
Old Trafford officials have already begun talks with the player’s entourage earlier this month, with the idea of gauging how feasible a transfer would be to complete.
Any deal for Willian this summer could prove tricky, with the West London club expected to undergo a managerial change during the summer.
The new manager could potentially affect whether Willian will be allowed to leave meaning United are keen to conclude a deal early.
It is understood that the Portuguese manager is a big admirer of
Willian and is pushing for the club to complete a deal for the winger
this summer.
Mourinho has already hinted that the club will not sign forward during the summer transfer window, however, the former Chelsea manager would make an exception for Willian.
