Tanzania: Defence Budget Sails Through in Parliament
Dodoma — The
2018/19 budget for the Ministry of Defence and National Service has been
unanimously approved by Parliament on Monday May 14.
The Sh1.9trillion budget sailed through after one day debates by MPs followed by votes.
It's usual for the MPs to seek clarifications and sometimes hold a shilling when the Parliament sits as a committee.
But no MP resisted
or sought clarifications during the sitting of Parliament as a
committee. The 2018/19 budget is an increase of Sh200 billion from the
2017/18's Sh1.7 trilion.
